Beds

The piece the property is judged on

Everything else in a guestroom supports the bed. It sets the room's axis, takes the largest share of the budget, and is the single element a guest forms an opinion about within minutes. It also has to survive housekeeping — stripped and remade every day, moved for cleaning, and knocked by trolleys and vacuum cleaners at base level.

Bases and headboards are made to order. Size, base construction, headboard height and profile, upholstered or timber face, buttoning or channel detail, fixing method, plinth detail and finish are all specified by your design team and built to the approved drawings.

Handcrafted joinery and upholstery

Headboards, particularly upholstered ones at scale, are made at our India facility, which is set up for handcrafted joinery and bespoke work. A headboard is a large flat plane where any inconsistency in padding or alignment is immediately visible, so it is handwork rather than volume work. Case goods and repeat elements are handled at the China facility. Together the two run 75,000 sq ft of owned production.

How a guestroom package runs

Design development turns the scheme into manufacturable shop drawings, including the fixing detail — how a headboard actually meets the wall is a question that has to be answered before production, not on site. An approval sample follows in three to four weeks. A full guestroom package runs ten to fourteen weeks per fifty keys from kick-off, with beds produced alongside the bedside tables and case goods they must match. Sea freight to Jebel Ali takes fourteen to twenty-one days.
